These are examples of accessory dwelling units, or ADUs - smaller living spaces on the same property as a main home. They can offer a place for a family member to live or an additional home to rent, giving homeowners and communities more housing options.

The nation’s largest pro-housing conference is coming to Raleigh.
This November 17–19, YIMBYtown brings 1,200 elected officials, government staff, developers, builders, nonprofits, and grassroots advocates to the Raleigh Convention Center.
Raleigh beat out Los Angeles and Atlanta to host, because we’re building a real variety of housing while other metros are still talking about it. This year’s theme, Y’all in My Backyard, is our Southern take on YIMBY and a celebration of the local people actively housing our neighbors.
Expect big names on stage and speakers from both sides of the aisle. Housing isn’t partisan, and neither is this conference.
Attendees are coming from across the country. We want Raleigh’s own CRE, AEC, advocacy, economic development, and city and county leaders front and center.
