POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Full-Time Technicians. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, we’ll provide the path with the training and support you need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with concrete restoration, shot blasting, and polishing concrete industrial and commercial floors.
Operate shotblasting and grinding equipment and power tools
Maintain clean and organized worksites that meet safety standards
Collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule
Qualifications

Experience preferred but not required — we’ll train the right person
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn
Reliable transportation to and from our construction yard
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely
Able to work overtime if necessary and to work various shifts
Acceptable DMV report if hired
Full Benefits after 30 day probation

We are working in a 1.3 million square foot warehouse. Its amazing to drive my truck through these giant buildings and marvel at the construction. Its also amazing to think how many of these warehouses there are in California.

At Blastrac Gardena, I dedicated myself to expanding the western territory and embracing a new chapter in California. During my tenure, I connected with Mark Jones at the Kappa Bay Yacht Club and brought him on board at Blastrac, alongside Phil Hicks. Through relentless education on shot blasting floors, we witnessed remarkable growth. Eventually, Mark transitioned to assume my role at Blastrac when I pursued a new venture within the flooring sector

All in a days work

In May of 1977, I began a significant business journey from South Bend, Indiana, to establish the West Coast sales territory for Wheelabrator Frye, BLASTRAC Division. Wheelabrator Frye, a result of a merger in 1971 involving Wheelabrator, Frye Copy Systems, Rust International, and Lurgei, provided me with an office and workshop space at AFCO, their Gardena, CA location. My sales territory spanned from west of Denver, Colorado, to various Pacific countries and islands, allowing me to visit remarkable destinations like Pearl Harbor and Guam.

Throughout my tenure, I explored diverse locations, leading to the inevitable wear and tear of a few suits and ties. Wheelabrator Frye held the 45th spot on the Fortune 500 list when I joined in 1973. Over time, the company underwent various reorganizations.

The photo attached displays the first truck assigned to the California office, along with my designated parking spot. I accumulated significant miles on that truck during my time with the company. I worked in the same space as Al Sartor, Dale Redderick, and Jerry Mattern. They were the Wheelabrator salesmen for the stationary shot blasting division. They have passed on, but I remain actively engaged in the industry.
Stay tuned to my page as I'm going to do a history of the industry, my business over 40 plus years and share a few stories with you. Imagine a time when no floors were using shotblast surface prep and now it's a business that keeps on cleaning up.
