Summer Checklist ☀️:
💧 1. Water Management
- Cycle & Soak: Split your watering into two shorter sessions an hour apart so the soil can actually absorb it without runoff.
-Time It Right: Water between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM to beat the wind, stop evaporation, and prevent fungus.
🌱 2. Mowing Adjustments
-Raise the Blade: Mow high (3–4 inches). Taller grass shades the soil, cools roots, and blocks weeds.
- Leave Clippings: Let grass clippings sit on the lawn to recycle nutrients back into the soil.
🍂 3. Mulch Right
- Layer Depth: Keep a solid 2-to-3-inch layer in your beds to trap moisture.
- No Volcanoes: Pull mulch back away from tree trunks and shrub bases to avoid rot.
✂️ 4. Minimal Pruning
- The 3 “Ds”: Only prune what is Dead, Damaged, or Diseased.
- No Heavy Hacking: Major pruning forces weak new growth that easily gets scorched.
🐛 5. Pest Patrol
- Lawn Hot Spots: Watch for expanding brown patches (signs of grubs or chinch bugs).
- Check Under Leaves: Look for mites or powdery mildew to catch and treat infestations early.
