I wanted to share this story as a reminder that if you ever see someone doing a good job, working hard, or you are just appreciative of them, please tell them because you never know the impact you will have on their day.

A customer called me to cut up and haul away a tree that had fallen over from the massive wind storms we’ve had here recently. I went to the job and started working. About an hour and a half passed by and as I was loading some branches into my trailer, an older gentleman from next door (part of this tree had fallen onto his property as well) stepped out onto his front porch to thank me for what I was doing and to tell me how wonderful of a job I was doing. That alone made me feel great, but he followed it with, “I just wish I could do something for you, like bring you out a cup of coffee ”. I told him I was very thankful for him coming out to tell me that and I appreciated his offer but he didn’t have to do that. Well, he went back inside and about 15 minutes later, this 81 year old gentleman shuffled to his backyard where I was working to hand me this cup of coffee. That interaction made my day and it really got me thinking how much of an impact we as humans can make with what appears to be such a little act of kindness, whether words of appreciation or a simple cup of coffee. So again, if you see someone do a great job, work really hard, or you are simply appreciative of them, trust me when I say it will be worth it to express your gratefulness to them.
