It's been a busy week for the Crow Peak Contractors crew!
From erosion control, seed drilling, and hydroseeding to tree planting and irrigation repairs, we've been covering a lot of ground across the Black Hills.
This week's projects have taken us from the Sky Ridge Well House in Spearfish to Powder House Pass and throughout Rapid City. We appreciate the opportunity to help improve and maintain these properties and projects across the region.

The spring rush is here, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve both our residential and commercial customers.

The hydroseed is only the start, the watering afterward is what helps turn it into a lawn. 💧🌱

A lot of homeowners think once the hydroseed is down, the job is done.

The truth is that watering is one of the biggest factors in whether that new lawn comes in thick, healthy, and even.

The most common watering mistakes are:
❌ Not watering enough
❌ Watering too heavily
❌ Watering too late in the day
❌ Watering inconsistently

New seed needs consistent moisture while it is germinating.

Too little water can dry it out.
Too much water can drown it.
Poor timing and inconsistency can set the whole lawn back.

The good news? This part is manageable. 😎

If your contractor gave you watering instructions, follow them closely. Those directions are a big part of getting the result you want.

A successful hydroseed job is not just about what gets sprayed.

It’s safe to say with the mild winter weather here in South Dakota, we’re in full gear — and the crew has been having a little too much fun along the way!
Over the past two weeks, we’ve been setting erosion control for multiple road projects from Powder House Pass in Lead to Rapid City. We’ve also been making great progress at Old Dominion, along with several residential projects in between.
Here are just a few photos of the crew and some of the projects we’ve been proud to be part of recently.
