I didn’t get into this industry because I like digging holes, lifting houses, or charging lots of money. . .
I started here because I PERSONALLY had the need. . .
I was flipping houses as a licensed general contractor and developer, and previous to this time, we had only had a few houses at a time that needed foundation repair and we did mostly in-house, doing mostly minor structural and waterproofing repairs.
However, one summer I have 6 houses all at once that needed foundation repair. And almost all the houses had the issues hidden behind framed in walls, or areas that were purposely hidden.
Needless to say, I was in trouble, and I needed these houses done ASAP!
So I started receiving bids, and they were ALL over the place! Literally I had one house that we received bids from $1,300 to $25,000, for the SAME BASEMENT!
So, after receiving all these bids, I realized what a JOKE this industry is! It is the WILD WEST! No one agreeing, and everyone having a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT METHOD OF REPAIR.
However, as luck would have it, as I was buying the foundation repair materials I needed for these houses, I ran into a guy that had just sold his multi-million dollar foundation repair business (still in operation today), and he was now in the business of selling foundation repair materials and supplies.
When I told him MY DILEMMA, he let me in on his totally vetted, time-tested engineers and repair methods that have been working for 20-YEARS to keep homes dry and structurally sound. . .
So with this team of Engineers I developed a list of services that we would provide to other home owners and investors that were having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM that I had experienced. . . The companies were either fly-by-night shady, or they were HUGE and SUPER EXPENSIVE, and I wasn’t willing to roll the dice.
Thus Smart Foundation Systems was born!!!
