Dear family, friends, and supporters,
It is with deep sadness that I give you this update. On the morning of August 23, Diana passed away peacefully in her sleep. Despite this sad ending, we are ever grateful for the time we had with Diana. The grace in which she handled her lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis was inspirational to us all. Even though her condition had been worse lately, there was nothing to indicate that this would happen. Diana's spirits were high, as she continued to enjoy the simple pleasures of life with her friends and family until the very end. Though the news of her passing is sad, we take comfort knowing that she went in her sleep at home, in good spirits. Often this is not the case with cystic fibrosis.
While it is too late for Diana's lung transplant, there are still many out there, waiting for lungs. To honor Diana's legacy, we would like to ask that if you haven’t already, please consider registering as an organ donor. There is no better way to honor Diana than to give someone else the gift of a new lease on life, the opportunity she did not have. To all donors reading this: we thank you for your tremendous support that allowed us to reach our goal of $15,000. The funds you have so generously donated for Diana's medical costs have been used entirely to cover funeral and burial costs. Again, we thank you for your support, and ask that you keep her family in your prayers, especially Kim and Katie as they go through this hard time. Diana will be missed, until we see her again someday.
Just Breathe for Diana A double lung transplant is Diana’s only chance to just breathe…like you and I do all day… every day, not giving it much thought at all. She’s on the donor list, which means she could be called at any moment to come to the hospital for a lifesaving lung transplant surgery....
