ONCE UPON A TIME . . . 📖💫

Reading’s first-ever Story Lane Book Fair & Night Market transformed the Reading Public Library into a world of magic. A place where books found new readers, artists shared their work, and the open mic gave a few brave voices their moment in the spotlight.

Families, friends, and curious folks walking by gathered to dance, laugh, and celebrate everything our community has to offer. This is what can happen when neighbors share what they love and create something together.

To our volunteers, vendors, neighbors, artists, authors, and collaborators: thank you for helping us turn this dream into a living, breathing entity that will outlive us all 🙌

Thank you to everyone who came to be part of the story. ❤️

But the story isn’t finished just yet… ♣️♥️♠️♦️

Barrio Lights is coming up, and this isn’t your typical gala. We are transforming the Reading Public Museum into an imaginative world filled with Wonderland characters, interactive experiences, and a few surprises we’re keeping tucked under the Mad Hatter’s hat for now 🤭 Make sure to save the date and don’t be late 🕰️🐇 !!!

MURALS, LIGHTING, VIEWS OF THE RIVER...All a step closer to becoming a reality!!!

After months of hearing from hundreds of neighbors, cyclists, runners, and others, we now have designs for a reimagined Reading Gateway Bridge. They were made for and by you! And this isn't all that's in store, there's more to come........

We wrapped up Adulting Sucks Round 2 with a little salsa and a lot of joy! A big thank you to Sara Feliciano for teaching the class and helping us celebrate through dance. To our students, thank you for the energy, laughter, and willingness to try something new that you brought to every session; including the dance floor. We’re so proud of you and grateful for the time we shared! 💃❤️

Just days before our historic book fair, neighbors were still busy building confidence and knowledge in our financial literacy course!!

The second round of our Adulting Sucks financial literacy class was full of learning, laughs, and new experiences. Our participants battled head-to-head for a handsome prize, thanks to NHS Greater Berks !

And to finish things off, we invited our dear friend Sara to help us celebrate the graduation with some salsa dancing 💃🏽

A photography exhibition underneath a bridge? Only in the Barrio 📸✨

The OJOS exhibition brought us together beneath the Penn Street Bridge for an evening full of community, local art, an inspiring sunset, and the kind of vibes that remind us why we love Reading ❤️

At Barrio, we believe in creating spaces where people of all ages can come out, have fun, and be themselves. Spaces where we laugh together, connect with our neighbors, share our stories, and show up for one another.

Community is about being present, supporting each other, and creating moments that remind us we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves.

OJOS was one of those moments. And we’re just getting started… 👀⭐️
