Sometimes I am asked how I ended up as an electrician. For those that may be interested in how it all began, here is my story.
Growing up on the family row-crop operation, farming was always my passion and I never dreamed that life would one day lead elsewhere. In my teens, I accepted a part-time position as an electrician’s helper. During this time, I gained valuable knowledge through exposure to agricultural and commercial wiring systems. Through this experience, I began to realize I enjoyed electrical.
After relocating to Iowa, I worked for a time in a facility constructing portable storage buildings, before accepting an employment opportunity from an electrical company.
After resuming work in the electrical field, I pursued a four-year apprenticeship, while gaining experience involving residential and commercial wiring. During this time, it came clear that my passion lay in the electrical industry. After completing my apprenticeship, I successfully passed the Journeyman Electrical Exam, and later, the Master Electrical Exam.
In 2024, a dream was realized when Volt Tech Electric was formed. Today, I am thankful for the support I have received along the way from my wife, my family, and many friends!
