The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office lost a family member yesterday, when Scott Gilmore succumbed to his battle with cancer. Scott began his career with our office in May of 2006 and served thru September of 2016. During his time with our office, Scott was a Corrections Deputy, moving to Sergeant, before being one of our Court Deputies. After leaving our office, he ran his own plumbing business.

Scott will be remembered for his big heart, smile, enthusiasm for life and loyalty. He will be missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Chase Fellowship Church, followed by a celebration of life in Chippewa Lake.
