As summer vacation draws to an end for the kids my main side kick Timber Gage last day of work was this past Saturday. He has operated in every aspect of this business this year from running loader, cutter, skidder with the logging crew; graded with dozer, hauled onsite with dump truck, loaded trucks with trackhoe; and worked in shop learning the paperwork, doing inventory, and making repairs in the shop. Our days start at 445,me with hot coffee in hand and him a sugar laced cold coffe brew. We leave out into the dark not knowing yet what challenges we face but him eager to tackle the unknown. My way of raising him was never normal, I felt you don’t wait until your son is a man to make him great; make him great as a boy. Most fathers and sons bond over sports but I knew nothing about sports so I couldn’t make him an athlete,. I know plenty about work and my trade. What a privilege I have had to pass on my craft. When you teach your son, you teach your son’s son. Our last job together this past Saturday was a very important one…..
A beautiful soul went home to spend eternity in heaven. She was most deserving and deeply loving woman that never asked anything for herself but gave so much to others. A million words wouldn’t do the legacy of your life justice, nor would a million tears bring you back. Several said you gained your wings, I’m pretty sure you had them the entire time; you just kept them tucked in. It’s the only way I can explain the love and warmth you had. A stranger could tell you loved everyone around more than yourself. All your pain is gone, and you have finally been set free.
It was an honor for me and Timber to dig your and Mr Tucker’s grave. It was the last token of my appreciation I could give you for all you have done.
