There’s a lot more to an internship than the work that happens at your desk.
Six of our interns recently spent some time at American AVK, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how valves, fire hydrants, and other waterworks products are manufactured and tested.
The tour showed them how engineering designs and specifications turn into physical products used in critical infrastructure, while giving them a closer look at how manufacturers, engineers, surveyors, contractors, and municipalities all work together.
Giving our interns opportunities like this is one of the ways we try to make their time at Lumos count. They’re here to gain experience in their own disciplines, of course, but we also want them to see more of the industry, meet the people working in it, and ask plenty of questions along the way.
A big thank you to the American AVK team for welcoming our group back for another tour.
They even sent everyone home with a custom Lumos fire hydrant, which is a pretty hard field trip souvenir to beat. 😊
