The tree sustained substantial storm-related structural failure with a major break in the co-domination. The failure has created a large open wound, increasing susceptibility to decay organisms and future structural weakness. The remaining canopy is sparse and uneven, indicating stress and reduced structural integrity. Based on the extent of damage and risk of future failure, removal was recommended.

Upon inspection, this tree was found to have extensive trunk decay associated with a large historic wound and structural failure. Significant deterioration of the main stem has compromised the structural integrity of the tree. Due to the advanced decay and elevated risk of failure, the tree is considered hazardous. Removal was recommended for the following reasons:

1. Advanced decay associated with a large open wound.

2. Increased likelihood of stem or whole-tree failure during storm events.

3. Limited ability for corrective pruning to mitigate the structural defect.

4. Potential hazard to people, property, and surrounding landscape should failure occur.
