We are on day 36 of no measurable rainfall in DFW and we have the next seven days of 104 to 107° temperatures!

Here’s what we recommend to avoid slab leaks, and plumbing pipe movement-

* 🌱 Water deeply 2 times per week as a starting point.
* 💧 Aim for roughly 1 inch of total irrigation per week, adjusting for your grass, soil and actual conditions.
* 🌡️ If the lawn is showing significant drought stress—bluish/gray color, folded leaves or footprints that don’t spring back—water sooner.
* 🌅 Water before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to reduce evaporation. NTMWD specifically recommends avoiding 10 a.m.–6 p.m. irrigation during summer.
* 🔄 If your soil is clay-heavy and water runs off, use shorter irrigation cycles with 1–2 hours between cycles rather than one long blast.
* ✂️ Keep your grass a little taller during extreme heat. Taller grass shades the soil and reduces water loss.

If the soil around your foundation is pulling back from the house by more than a centimeter that’s a good indication- You need to be watering your foundation. Moisture can be particularly important because expansive clay soils can shrink as they dry.

We’ve gone 33 DAYS without measurable rainfall here in DFW… and your grass is starting to wonder if we forgot where the water hose is! 😂🌱

🚨 LOTTERY UPDATE 🚨

Well… we didn’t win the state lottery Wednesday night.

We checked our ticket more times than we check for plumbing leaks… and somehow we still came up empty. 😅

But then we remembered…

We may not have won millions of dollars… but we DID win Best of Richardson! 🏆🎉
