Today ended Phase 1 of remodeling a home in Port Washington.
Over the last few months, I redid the living room, kitchen, sunporch, and basement landing on the first floor of this home.
It took longer than expected, as this house was FULL of surprises
- materials either didn't show up on time or vanished from inventory,
- the customer ended up with clogged pipes resulting in both upstairs bathrooms flooding and causing water damage in the kitchen after I had JUST finished it
- and I did the work with very little help, while working with torn tendons in my ankle and shoulder
FOR THIS PHASE-
Living Room-
Walls were skim coated because of damage done from wallpaper removal, then sanded, textured, and painted, along with chair rail install. There was soooooooo much patchwork in the drywall.
New windows were installed (by another company) and I sanded/painted the trim around them.
Baseboards were removed and replaced with new ones
Kitchen-
Carpet removed and new LVP flooring added.
Lighting system was redone and can lights were added to acoustic panels to help keep echoing down.
Acoustic panels added to walls to keep echoing down.
Backsplash was added throughout.
Sunroom-
Carpet removed and new LVP flooring installed.
Acoustic panels added to walls for echoing.
Window frames had to be built out to accommodate for the space added by the acoustic panels.
Window Trim was sanded and painted white.
Crown moulding added all the way around.
Basement Landing-
All walls were skim coated due to damage from wallpaper removal.
There was a TON of patchwork, including patching the ceiling where lighting was added.
Water Mitigation / Mold Remediation-
Both bathrooms upstairs flooded due to a clogged pipe, causing water to come through the ceiling in the kitchen - this was just DAYS after I had finished the kitchen. The ceiling was removed, asbestos contaminated insulation was removed, the area was washed and dried, painted with mold killing paint, and resealed.
Phase 2 will begin soon, with remodeling both upstairs bathrooms, the master bedroom and master closet.
