In this Bon Air remodel, those steps tell you the whole story: a painted brick fireplace with a simple floating mantel, warm wood floors, and a clear view into a kitchen where white cabinetry and natural wood work side by side. Nothing shouts. Everything belongs.

A bathroom feels like a retreat when it feels calm, and calm is a design decision.

These Short Pump homeowners wanted a space where two people could start the day without bumping elbows or raising their voices over counter clutter. So the plan gave them each their own white oak vanity with wall-mounted brass fixtures, drawers where everything actually fits, and soft vertical lighting that's kind at 6 a.m.

A freestanding tub and a low-curb shower round out the room, wrapped in quiet, marble-look tile that lets the wood and brass do the talking.

There’s something special about a front porch in Willow Lawn.

For this Richmond home, a small covered entry became a full-length porch designed for much more than coming and going. A standing-seam metal roof, new columns, checkerboard flooring, a wider front walk, and thoughtful landscaping give the home a welcoming presence while creating a comfortable place to actually spend time.

Now there’s room for a morning cup of coffee, an evening outside, or a quick conversation with a neighbor passing by.

The finished porch feels like it has always belonged here, and gives this family a whole new way to enjoy the home and neighborhood they already loved.

In Salisbury, this primary bathroom was reimagined around privacy, storage, comfort, and a calmer start to each day.

For these homeowners, the original layout lacked privacy and storage, while a small shower made the room feel less comfortable than it should.

We developed a more functional plan with a private water closet, custom cabinetry, and a generous shower featuring body jets, dual shower heads, and built-in niche storage.

A new window centered above the tub creates a natural focal point, while mercury glass, beaded inset cabinetry, custom millwork, and layers of carefully placed lighting bring warmth and character throughout the room.

Now, the space feels calm, considered, and built around the homeowners’ daily routines.

Older Richmond homes carry a kind of character that can't be recreated: arched doorways, curved banisters, molding with real proportion. The worst thing a renovation can do is erase it.

These homeowners loved their home's history. They just needed it to work for the life they live now. Color gets a bad reputation in renovation. People worry they'll tire of it. But timeless doesn't have to mean white.

This homeowner wanted a bath with real personality, the kind you'd find in a well-loved older home. So every choice pulled from things that have already stood the test of time: a soft butter-yellow vanity and wainscoting, floral wallpaper, brass fixtures with traditional lines, and a classic tile floor with just enough pattern to feel special.

None of it chases a trend. All of it works together. That's usually the difference between a room that feels dated in five years and one that keeps feeling like it belongs.

Some kitchens have plenty of square footage and still feel dim and closed in. That was the frustration here: a hardworking kitchen that never felt as bright as the family who used it.

Together, we reworked the space around light and flow: white cabinetry that reflects the daylight instead of absorbing it, a navy island that anchors the room without weighing it down, and a glass-front hutch that gives the everyday dishes and glassware a home worth seeing. A full pantry wall keeps the counters clear, which keeps the whole room feeling open.

Now morning light moves through the kitchen the way it always should have, from the sink window to the breakfast table.

Sometimes one material sets the tone for an entire room.

In this bath, it's the emerald green tile. Glossy, deep, and full of variation, it wraps the walk-in shower and catches the light from the shuttered window differently every hour of the day. Brushed gold fixtures warm it up. The pebble floor grounds it. And the botanical wallpaper above the green wainscoting carries the color through the rest of the room, so nothing feels like it was chosen in isolation.

There are practical choices tucked in here too: a built-in niche, a bench, a grab bar that blends in rather than standing out. Thoughtful design means the beautiful details and the useful ones work together.
