Freeze Recommendations:
We recommend you turn off your water at the meter and open all of your faucets and fixtures to drain the system. This will prevent you from having a possible catastrophe/flood while you’re sleeping.
After turning off the water at the meter and opening all fixtures inside and out, we recommend you wait 30 to 45 minutes then go outside and close the hose faucets and cover them. This will prevent residual water from draining down into the hose faucets and freezing, thus preventing you from closing them in the morning. Try to create a heat source, such as a floodlight or space heater near sensitive areas, such as water heaters in the attic, softeners or filters in the garage and etc. Close all the faucets and fixtures in the morning, and then turn the water back onto your home “slowly” while watching for possible leaks from residual water in the piping system. (if you do have a leak, it will be a minor problem and not a massive problem).
Some people prefer to drip or run their faucets. I personally will not be gambling with my home.
Best of luck, if you have problems, we will be happy to assist as best we can.
