Join us as we check in on progress at 301 West 6th Street in Manchester!

Phase 1 of this development includes the construction of a new 18-story building featuring 375 apartment homes and a 524-space, 5-level parking garage. The building is constructed of precast, concrete panels that are lifted and positioned using a (very large) crane. Crews have also begun pouring concrete floors and sub-floors, erecting apartment wall framing and installing mechanical systems. We are grateful to all of our subcontractors at 301 West 6th for their dedication and hard work to get us to this point, and to our ownership and design team for trusting us with this project.

Watch until the end for the view from the 11th floor!

After the success of the first three NZT trailers in the field, we’re continuing to push our vision forward. NZT 4.0 has reached a major milestone, and we’re excited to share our progress.

There’s still work to do, but we’re proud to see the next phase of our goal of creating energy efficient, comfortable and elevated workspaces for our project teams come to life. Built to use roughly 70% less energy than a conventional office trailer and operate entirely off-grid, NZT continues to bring high-performance construction principles to the places where our teams work every day. This build represents one more step toward building a more sustainable jobsite.

As we wrap up another incredible summer internship at KBS, today brings a bittersweet goodbye. Our interns gathered at headquarters one last time to reflect on their experiences, share what they've learned, and present thoughtful, innovative ideas that challenged us to think differently.

Watching each of these talented students (and the students that have already gone back to school!) develop professionally during their summer with us has been a rewarding experience. Their curiosity, hard work, and fresh perspectives made a meaningful impact on our team and the projects they supported.

We wish each of them a successful and rewarding school year ahead. Thank you for your dedication, enthusiasm, and contributions, and we hope to see many of you back at KBS next summer—not only to continue building your careers, but also to catch up on the progress of the projects you helped bring to life.

Best of luck this school year. Until next summer!

Happy National Intern Day!

We took a break this afternoon to celebrate our KBS Summer Interns with an ice cream social at KBS HQ. Our appreciation for their contributions this summer is immeasurable, and we can't wait to see their growth as the next generation of construction professionals.

Thank you to Cool Creations for swinging by to serve some cool treats, and to all of our team members that were able to join us. 🍦🍨

Construction is officially underway at 5069 Forest Hill Ave., bringing new life to the former Westover Place shopping center site. 🚧

This three-story mixed-use project will feature 30 one-bedroom apartments above 7,500 square feet of commercial space, with completion expected in about a year. The development adds to the ongoing transformation of the Forest Hill corridor, joining nearby projects like Hill Standard, The Evelyn, and Väsen Brewing Co.'s taproom as the area continues to grow into one of Richmond's emerging neighborhood destinations.

KBS is grateful to work with a design time including Blackwood Development Co., Dumbarton Properties and to deliver this project along one of Richmond's iconic corridors.
