The Bullseye was on the AIA Marin Home tour this weekend. In collaboration with Feldman Architecture this project is a tribute to Henrik Bull with a story as special as the architecture. This pool house renovation was a complete gut for a very dear client of ours. The project was a 4th phase for our client who suddenly and sadly passed away during this project. I had the privilege of knowing Mr Horton for many years - remodeling his office in a nautical theme many years ago, later his family room, and then the top floor of their house plus master suite. Mr Horton was an extremely successful business man whose passion for driving race cars took him all over the world! Just before he passed Mr. Horton even offered my son a job at his dealership - SF Toyota. Mr Horton was funny and always kind, a true leader who always called me Mr Kasten - that tradition now carries on with his Son! You are missed but never forgotten Mr Horton …. Keep the pedal to the metal!

Self performed craft and care! The bullseye guest house is clad in dense grain redwood inside and out. Site superintendent Juan Gonzales leads our crew of carpenters and we wanted to take a moment to showcase their craft. Stay tuned for more as the Bullseye settles into its final form.

Update from Tiburon. Soldier Piles are complete allowing for mass excavation for a new garage and ADU. As the team cuts into the hillside wood lagging is placed between the soldier piles to hold the soil back. The work moves a few feet at a time, repeating the cycle until the site reaches the depth needed for the new structure. Above the excavation, temporary shoring supports now carry the load of the upper structure. The old open carport will soon be converted to living space with new entry, kitchen, and main stair up to top level / primary suite.
