This is a simple WC utilizing a composting toilet, in a backyard studio, completed in May. The initial proposal from a plumbing contractor to install the toilet only was estimated at $12,000. The design of the drain system in the 1920's bungalow would necessitate installing the new toilet drain directly to the sewer system in the street in front of the house, requiring 120' of trench.

For about 70% of the plumbers price, we installed a top of the line composting toilet, the bathroom enclosure, switched out a doorway for the bath window, repurposed that door the the entrance, installed hot water and mixer to the low use stainless sink, and connected the new sink to a french drain.

This was a two story addition on the back of a beautifully constructed home from the late '30's. Framing material is all straight grain clear pine, two inches net, and all exterior trim is cypress heart. The addition yielded a porch, bath, dressing room, and large closet adjacent to the master bedroom upstairs, a new rear porch, with the addition of cherry panelling to the first floor den.
