I just wanted to put this out there for everyone experiencing leaks that you’ve never seen before. We understand it’s really inconvenient, but just know that you aren’t the only one having this problem! I’ve had an influx of calls from friends telling me they have leaks. The sad thing is, there’s not much that can be done until the ice and snow melt.
Odds are that this isn’t a workmanship issue (see attached diagram), it’s technically a weather issue that is most likely covered under your homeowners policy (depending on how it was written).
I want to touch on that as well, just because it’s covered doesn’t necessarily mean you need to file a claim. Depending on your deductible, it could or could not be worth filing. We recommend having someone come out to assess the damage before filing. Your insurance claims are something you want to have as a sort of “ace in the hole” for when it’s really needed.
Example: If your deductible is $1,000 dollars and you have experienced interior damage (I.E. stains, leaks, puddling water), have it assessed to see how much the damages are. If it’s only about $1,300, you will only get $300 after it’s all said and done.

We have found significant hail damage in the Gluckstadt/Madison/Canton areas. This can cause matte damage to shingles and allow water to find its way into your home. Before filing a claim give me a call to inspect your home because not every home will have it and you don’t want to waste a claim if there’s not enough damage. We will do a free inspection and go over the pictures with you to let you know the condition of your roof. If you have active leaks, we have a production team that can install a tarp to mitigate any further interior damage as well! With rains like this, even the smallest things can cause leaks.
Pictured are a few missing shingles, a dry rotted pipe boot and interior stains.
The interior pictures show what can happen after a component on your roof fails.

We’ve had lots of rain today, and with rain comes leaks!
Water damage can surface after any type of precipitation.
Keep your eyes peeled for any signs of leaks or loose shingles over the next few rainy days.
At the first sign of a problem give me a call to minimize the cost of repairs.
