⚠️ Winter Storm Generator Safety Reminder ⚠️

With the upcoming winter storm and possible power outages, generators can be lifesavers — but only when used safely.

✔️ Never run generators indoors or in garages, basements, or near windows/doors
✔️ Keep generators at least 20 feet away from your home and exhaust pointed away
✔️ Use heavy-duty, outdoor-rated extension cords
✔️ Never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet — this can cause deadly backfeed
✔️ Install carbon monoxide detectors with fresh batteries
✔️ Turn generators off and let them cool before refueling

💡 The safest option is a properly installed transfer switch or interlock, which protects your home, your family, and utility lineworkers.

🎄 Outdoor Christmas Lights Not Working? You Might Need a Receptacle Repair. 🎄

If your outdoor Christmas lights keep flickering, won’t turn on, or trip the GFCI, the issue may be a worn-out or weather-damaged outdoor receptacle. Cold temps, moisture, and age can cause outlets to fail—especially ones used season after season.

✅ Signs your outdoor outlet needs repair:
• Lights only work sometimes or shut off randomly
• Plug feels loose or won’t stay in
• GFCI trips immediately when you plug in lights
• Outlet cover is cracked, missing, or letting water in
• You notice buzzing, warmth, or discoloration (don’t use it!)

Outdoor receptacles should be GFCI-protected and weather-rated, so they stay safe in rain, snow, and freezing temps. A quick repair or replacement can save your lights and prevent a bigger electrical problem.
