Alternative Power Enterprises’ President Leif Juell, started the company in 1992 after experiencing first hand the rewards of living off-the-grid. Soon after installing his own system neighbors began calling and asking him to install solar power systems to power their homes. Now builders, architects, business, and residential clients count on Alternative Power Enterprises expertise to design cost

effective power solutions for on- and off-grid locations. All of Alternative Power Enterprises clients are seeking to reduce their dependence on the utility grid and lower their energy and heating costs. As President, Leif is leading the company to provide renewable energy systems and services for space heating, water heating, and electrical power with the same goal as the Zero Energy Home movement–to make each building energy efficient, energy generating, and balanced with the energy needs of its owners and occupants.

Exciting News!

To Our Valued Customers,
We are thrilled to announce that Alternative Power Enterprises has been acquired by our long time, and most trusted, employee Josh Shipley. Many of you already know Josh and the excellent customer service he has provided over the last seven years; now he steps into more of a leadership role while Jill and Leif take a step back.
What does this mean for you?
Our entire staff is now a part of Josh’s family! Our office will remain at its current location, 672 N Cora, and you can expect the same level, or better, of service from the company. We have added a full time service technician, Nick Kirk, he is incredibly knowledgeable and is able to better serve our clients, Greg Nicholson, our designer/spreadsheet wizard, Susan Holland, sales, who has been in the solar industry for a couple of decades, and our lead installer Andy Thoman who has stepped up and has become a trusted and well versed installer. And we would be remiss if we did not mention our top-quality installers Jesse LaSala and Jacob Putnicki. We are so proud of this crew, and their professionalism, and we are here to serve you. We also welcome Anna Hill, to replace Jill, Anna comes to us with several years of solar experience and we feel so lucky to have found her.
What does this mean for us?
Josh’s new energy in a leadership roll will help to move the company in a forward direction. Josh knows that the relationships we have with our customers is life-long, and he cares deeply for each and every one of them. He also has new ideas and innovation to bring to the company, and we cannot wait to see what is next.
Our story continues…
Leif started this company 28 years ago, after first installing solar on his own house and then helping friends and neighbors. Jill joined in 1998 and we created an office in an outbuilding in our back yard. After about seven years we moved to a bigger location, then again to a bigger location with a warehouse, and finally we moved into our permanent home on North Cora last July. We have learned a lot! And we are still learning. We have ridden the “solar coaster”( ...Cont in comments)

APE is taking the next two weeks off to see what the Covid-19 has in store for us. We are taking calls and can can help with service and can put together designs and quotes for you. I am finding that in this down time there is a great opportunity to stay educated and watch some Renewable Energy videos at home.
