🐶 Can Your Dog Swim in Your Pool? 🏊♂️
The short answer is yes—most dogs can safely enjoy a swim in a properly maintained pool! But before you let your four-legged friend dive in, keep these tips in mind:
Important to note: what type of pool you have - we wouldn't recommend having a dog swim in a vinyl liner pool only because if the dog gets too close to the walls and swipes with their nails, this has the potential to damage the liner!
🐾 Never leave them unattended. Not every breed is a strong swimmer, and some dogs should always wear a life jacket.
💧 Provide fresh drinking water. Pool water isn't meant for drinking and can upset your dog's stomach.
🏊 Teach them where the steps are. Make sure they know how to get out of the pool on their own.
🦺 Use a dog life jacket. It's a smart choice for puppies, senior dogs, or first-time swimmers.
🚿 Rinse them off afterward. A quick rinse removes chlorine from their coat and helps protect their skin. Don't forget to dry their ears to help prevent infections!
🧦 Protect your pool equipment. Dog hair can clog your skimmer and filter, so using skimmer socks makes cleanup much easier.
A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping both your dog and your pool in great shape all summer long! ☀️🐕
