We are proud to share that one of our valued contractors on the Crystal Beach Aquatic Park project—Spear Aquatics—has been recognized with the 2025 Gold Award for Large Commercial Projects by the United Aqua Group Awards of Distinction.

Brian Spear of Spear Aquatics joined us at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting to share the exciting news. Brian has worked on Crystal Beach Pool since the early 1990s and, during his career, has worked on numerous WPA-era pools—most of which are no longer around. He shared how meaningful this project was to him and expressed appreciation for the City’s commitment to honoring the site’s history throughout the redesign.

We’re grateful for Brian and his team’s decades of dedication and the expertise they brought to the table—not only in the successful completion of the Crystal Beach project, but also in their support during recent flood recovery efforts. Thanks to the hard work of our Parks team and contractors, such as Spear Aquatics, Crystal Beach remains a beloved community destination that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
