Founded in January 28, 1913 by J.M. Richardson & W.H. Wayland, who began by selling electric appliances, electrical lighting and wiring homes in Roanoke and the Roanoke Valley.
In 1924, Richardson-Wayland establishes the second radio station in Virginia; WDBJ on AM 1310
In 1930, the business expanded into industrial and commercial wiring
In 1934, the company expanded into utility construction
In 1935 RWEC joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 79 as a proud union contractor
In 1956 joined the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)
In 1957 concentrated solely on utility construction
In 2006 company was purchased by Argos Utilities Holdings, LLC
We are accepting applications for the following positions:
Directional Drill Operators
Groundman
Groundman with CDL
FT positions available in the Transportation Systems Division (Union position) Responsible for installation, repair, removal and maintenance of traffic signals, signs and other traffic control devices.
Requires HS graduate or GED, ability to work various hours and locations, experience in operating heavy equipment/machinery, willing to work out of town. CDL preferred but not required. Experience in traffic signal work preferred but not required.
This position falls under the Union contract guidelines and covers PTO time, health insurance and hospitalization, dental, vision, prescription medications, and training with no out of pocket expense. Coverage for eligible employees includes family at no additional cost. Retirement through the National Electrical Annuity Plan. All tools for the trade are company provided except for steel toe boots.
