We'd like to congratulate the Town of Blacksburg Government and Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. on the grand opening of their new business incubator. We're excited to see the space up and running, as it will help support and accelerate new local businesses. It was a lot of fun working alongside the general contractor and our design-build partner, Building Specialists.

Please join us in welcoming Ryan to Hughes Associates A&E, as the newest member of our architecture studio! Ryan brings extensive K-12 education experience and is skilled in creating high-quality conceptual images. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and is a newly licensed architect.

Ryan comes to Hughes Associates after spending 6 months hiking the Appalachian Trail with his now fiancé. He's part of the Roanoke Valley Trail Runners, Roanoke Valley Gem and Mineral Society, a Freemason at Monroe Lodge 301, a member of the American Poolplayers Association, and plans to join the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club to help out with trail maintenance. When he eventually makes his way indoors, he enjoys watching movies and cooking with his fiancé.

Welcome Ryan!

The Curve King has left the building… (at least on a full-time basis!).

We want to thank Earle Shumate a happy retirement and for bringing his creativity, humor, and hard work to Hughes Associates everyday for the last 22 years. Prior to joining Hughes, Earle worked with the great folks over at Building Specialists. Having both groups together, in addition to our wonderful clients and subconsultants, made this celebration that much more special.

Earle has agreed to help us out on a part-time basis to assist our clients and on-going projects, but may appear in flip flops and hula shirts from now on!

The Hughes team wishes everyone a happy Fourth of July and a safe, hydrated weekend!

Great article by WDBJ7 and a real-world example that speaks to the importance of community health services. We're excited to be working with Community Health Center of the New River Valley on their new two-story clinic in Christiansburg, providing medical, dental, behavioral health care, and substance use treatment.

In our latest Target 7 report, we profile a front-line provider with a long history in the New River Valley and a bold plan for the future.
