Yellow jackets will find some pretty sneaky places to build their nests!
Here we’re treating yellow jackets entering through a small opening in the corner of the siding at a home in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. When yellow jackets get behind siding, they can build a nest inside the wall void where you may not even realize how much activity is going on.
If you’re seeing yellow jackets repeatedly flying in and out of the same spot around your home, there’s a good chance there’s a nest hiding behind it.

🦟 Mosquitoes are definitely making their presence known this summer!
Bergen County does a great job monitoring and treating mosquito populations throughout the area, but there are also things homeowners can do right in their own yards to help keep populations down.

Yellow jackets can become especially aggressive when their nest is disturbed, and with colonies reaching their largest size toward the end of summer, you may suddenly notice a lot more activity around the yard.
If you see yellow jackets repeatedly flying in and out of the same hole in the ground, siding, soffit, or other opening, there’s a good chance there’s a nest nearby. Don’t plug the hole! That can make the problem worse and may cause them to find another way out.

Seeing roaches outside? Don’t panic just yet!
We’ve been seeing wood roaches popping up around Bergen County lately. Unlike German cockroaches, wood roaches typically live outdoors around wood piles, mulch, leaf litter, trees, and other damp areas.
They may occasionally wander inside—especially during the warmer months—but they generally don’t infest homes or reproduce indoors.
So if you spot one inside, it doesn’t automatically mean you have a roach infestation!
Just another seasonal pest making an appearance here in North Jersey.

August is always a busy month for bugs!
Between the heat, humidity, and all the rain we’ve had this summer, we’re seeing plenty of activity around Bergen County. Ants, wasps, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, and even rodents are all keeping us busy right now.

A little tip from us: keep an eye out for standing water around the yard, wasp activity around rooflines and decks, and ant trails around the foundation. Catching a problem early can make a big difference.

🐝 It’s the little things that make a difference!

We changed up our Wrigley’s BusyBee lawn signs with one small detail that we think makes them stand out a whole lot more!

-We swapped out the traditional black lawn stakes for bright YELLOW stakes.

It may seem like a small change, but we think the yellow ties everything together and makes the signs feel a lot more like Wrigley’s BusyBee. Plus, they’re definitely harder to miss when you’re driving by!

🐝 Now THAT’S a hornet nest!
We recently took care of this large hornet nest that was built right alongside a homeowner’s window. Once the treatment was completed and the nest was safely removed, we opened it up—and you can really see just how much is going on inside.
The layers of comb, developing larvae, and adult hornets are pretty incredible to see up close… just preferably after the nest is no longer attached to your house! 😂
Late summer is when hornet and yellow jacket colonies can be at their largest and most active. If you notice a nest around your home, shed, roofline, or landscaping, give it plenty of space and avoid disturbing it.
