I keep saying I will share more of things I have written or lectured, and have been incredibly slow to do so.
So, here is a a lecture and QA session I did with Professor Juan Cuevas' Architecture studio at Chulalongkorn University.
In it, I am discussing my graduate thesis research project titled "Utopia in the Apocalypse: Creating a Framework of Survival Systems."
Although I am the biggest fan of dystopian media, a lot of research shows humanity's potential for community and innovation in times of disaster.
I discuss different aspects of how Architecture, Engineering and Design could create truly self sufficient systems in such dire times.
While it was tough at times to revisit work I did MANY years ago, it was pretty cool to talk about it with the next generation of Architects.
It was also spooky how relevant a lot of it was after Covid devastated the planet and how the psychology of humanity banding together seems harder than ever to believe.
