Yesterday was incredible! 🙌✨
Just look at this view —the Lucky Flea Market completely packed the plaza in the Neighborhood of Play!
Seeing thousands of neighbors, food trucks, and local vendors filling the space next to the iconic Strong National Museum of Play is exactly why we do what we do. Years ago, this area was a sunken expressway (the Inner Loop). Yesterday, it was a thriving, breathing community hub.
This is the ultimate proof of Architecture Building Community in action.🏙️❤️

Deep in the trenches of rehabilitating three distinct wings spanning from 1908 to 1958. This former hospital site is being transformed into 80 beautiful, affordable apartments for the Buffalo community. Stay tuned for more updates soon to come.

Another J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is officially in the books! 👟🎉

We had a fantastic time trading our desks for sneakers and this year we joined our friends in Rochester for the annual 5K challenge. There’s nothing quite like a little fresh air, some friendly competition, and great company to wrap up the work week.

From the starting line to the post-race celebrations, it was a wonderful night of community, teamwork, and pushing our limits together.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, cheered us on, and made it such a memorable evening. Same time next year? 🙌

We love seeing how practical, community-based design can completely rewrite a city’s footprint. In a new feature article, our team looks back at how we helped transform Rochester’s historic Inner Loop East highway from a concrete divide into a bustling, inclusive downtown destination.

Today, the Neighborhood of Play features:
🏢 250 vibrant apartments (fully leased!)
🛍️ 17,000 sq. ft. of trendy local retail, cafes, and breweries
🏨 A brand-new Hampton Inn & Suites
🕹️ An incredible 90,000 sq. ft. expansion for our friends at the Strong National Museum of Play!

For us, this wasn’t just about designing buildings—it was about listening to the community, building trust, and executing a vision that rights the wrongs of past urban renewal. https://www.aia.org/aia-architect/article/how-one-firm-navigated-large-urban-project-rochester-ny

Happy ! Today we’re throwing it back to 1878 and shining a spotlight on the place our Buffalo team calls home: The Kamman Building.

Originally built as a bustling meat market in the late 19th century, this architectural gem has seen Buffalo evolve for nearly 150 years. Instead of letting history fade, we did what we love most—we preserved, adapted, and breathed new life into it. https://cjsarchitects.com/work/project:kamman-building/

There’s something powerful about seeing the vacant Gates Circle Hospital finally getting the glow-up it deserves. But this isn’t just about fresh paint and new windows. It’s about the belief that all people are created equal.

We had a great evening hosting AIA Buffalo/WNY for a construction tour of the future Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship. It was a privilege to lead our industry peers through the transformation of the iconic former Buffalo News building into a state-of-the-art campus center.

From the expansive open-concept learning spaces to the structural milestones that bring this adaptive reuse project to life, the progress is a testament to the power of revitalizing Buffalo’s architectural fabric.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to get a "behind the scenes" look at how we are reimagining this landmark for the next generation of entrepreneurs coming Fall 2026. https://cjsarchitects.com/work/project:golisano-institute-for-business-and-entrepreneurship-1/
