We’re excited to celebrate Mia Leone’s journey with MRB Group!

Mia joined our team for the spring semester as part of our Elevated Internship Program, and we’re proud to share that she has accepted a full-time position as an Associate Engineer I beginning June 15th.

At MRB Group, we believe internships should provide meaningful experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth, and Mia’s experience is a great example of that mission in action.

But don’t just take it from us, see what Mia has to say about her experience in the Elevated Internship Program and what made MRB Group feel like the right place to begin her career.

Congratulations, Mia. We’re excited for what’s ahead!

The Impact of Wetlands on Development
May 28, 2026 | 6pm–7pm

Wetlands are among the most critical ecological assets in any community. New York State has taken a proactive stance on regulating development impacts that could threaten the environmental value of these key areas. As regulations and best practices continue to evolve, local governments play an important role in reviewing projects with potential wetlands impacts.

This session will provide an overview of the current regulatory landscape and local government responsibilities related to development review. Representatives from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will also be presenting as part of this session, offering additional insight into wetlands regulations and environmental review considerations.

Big progress at the Town of Penfield, New York DPW Facility project!

The DPW team has officially moved into their new Garage Building, marking the completion of Phase 1 and the start of Phase 2 construction.

Next up: the abatement and demolition of the original DPW garage building to make room for three new storage structures and a new fuel management system. Once demolition is complete, crews will shift focus to sitework and prepare the area for its next phase of development.

Exciting to see this project continue to take shape and support the Town’s future operations and infrastructure needs.

We’re excited to be exhibiting at the New York Conference of Mayors (NYCOM) Annual Meeting & Training School this week. If you’re attending, be sure to stop by the MRB Group booth and connect with our team.

On Thursday, May 14, at 3:30 PM, Maggie Nearing and Matt Horn will present: Road Map for Public Facility Improvements.

How do you know when it’s time for a new facility? Sometimes the signs are obvious — aging infrastructure, overcrowded spaces, or facilities that no longer support your operations. But knowing where to begin can be the biggest challenge.

This session will explore how communities can:
• Identify facility challenges and future needs
• Plan and scope projects that support long-term operations
• Engage the public throughout the process
• Find funding opportunities to move projects from concept to reality

We look forward to seeing you at the conference. Stop by our booth and join us for the presentation.

We help communities attract new investment while supporting the growth and success of existing businesses. Through strategic planning, site development, infrastructure improvements, and implementation support, we help create environments where businesses can thrive.

Economic Development Week: Downtown & Redevelopment

Vibrant downtowns are the heart of a community.

We partner with municipalities to revitalize downtowns and guide redevelopment that brings new life to underutilized spaces. From streetscapes to adaptive reuse and redevelopment strategies, we help communities create places that are active, welcoming, and built for the future.

Thoughtful redevelopment strengthens local identity, supports businesses, and drives long-term economic growth.
