For over 130 years we've been protecting the health of our nation through our Plumbing, Pipefitting and HVAC Service work. We work in the Heavy Industrial, Commercial and Residential Sectors. We also specialize in HVAC Service throughout our jurisdiction, where heating & cooling systems are vital to the economy during our warm summers and cold winters. Our members are required to graduate from the
UA Internationals certified and accredited Joint Apprenticeship Training Program which produces the best Journeymen in the industry. This 5-year apprenticeship program which requires an apprentice to have over 10,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as over 1,600 hours of classroom education from certified instructors means that you have the most qualified workforce at your disposal. Our workforce takes pride in partnering with our signatory contractors to deliver sophisticated piping systems to the end user which are so important to the infrastructure of our community. We do it right the first time, so when the Ethanol Plants come to upstate New York and our Universities expand existing facilities, they can count on the members of Local 13. Along with equally important commodities such as steam systems, potable water systems, and comfort piping systems. These systems are necessary to support the facilities. UA LOCAL 13 SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
Revised March 11, 2026
UA Local 13’s social media accounts were established to communicate news and other information to our members, their families and other stakeholders. On sites such as Facebook, LU13 has opted to allow comments on its posts so that members have the opportunity to share their perspectives with their brothers and sisters across North America. In exchange, we expect members, and other users, to refrain from posting anything on LU13 social media that:
• Is discriminatory, hateful, harassing or threatening;
• Is obscene, profane or vulgar;
• Violates copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights;
• Is defamatory or invades a person’s privacy;
• Constitutes spamming or trolling;
• Is off-topic, i.e., unrelated to the original post;
• Includes advertising or solicitation;
• Advocates for or against candidates for union office; or
• Attacks the LU13 as an institution or discloses proprietary, confidential or other information that interferes with the performance of its legal or contractual obligations. LU13 will block or restrict the access of users who violate this policy and remove the offending content. In the case of a more serious violation, such as a threat of physical violence, internal union charges, contacts with law enforcement, and/or other action may also be pursued. Communications to LU13 through social media shall in no way constitute a legal or official notice or comment to LU13. In addition, LU13 members seeking assistance from the LU13 should contact the Union Office by letter, email or phone—and not through social media. A final note to LU13 members: the ground rules in this policy represent only minimum standards of conduct on social media. Please remember that your words and deeds often reflect on your union and fellow members. We are all stewards of a proud UA tradition, and it is up to each and every one of us to represent it well, on the job site, in the community, and on social media.
