At Tyler's Landscaping, we don't just shape lawns and landscapes, we care about the community spaces where our kids grow up, play, and thrive!

We are incredibly proud to support the Rockford Park District Foundation and their vital Help Me Play program. This amazing initiative provides financial assistance to local youth so every child has a chance to participate in camps, lessons, and recreational sports, regardless of financial barriers.

Tonight, the Park District is hosting a fantastic community event, and our very Tyler Smith (who proudly serves on the Park District Board of Commissioners) will be there as a guest bartender, along with Owen Carter, who also serves as a Commissioner, and Mike Robinson, former Foundation President. This event is hosted by the Rockford University Club, and is open to the public from 5pm to 7pm.

Every child deserves a safe, active, and supportive environment. Let's help them get off the sidelines and onto the field!

Well the forecasts are in...

Punxsutawney Phil predicted a potentially prolonged polar period.

Meanwhile, our Northern Illinois Woodstock W***y worked out a waning winter window.

That's right. Phil said there are 6 more weeks of winter, but W***y said that we have just 6 weeks until spring.

At Tyler's Landscaping, we side with our Woodstock Weather-Woodchuck, as we count down to spring!

That means that now is the time to start planning your plants, perennials, patios, and pergolas. Call today, and we can help you work on your weeds, wildflowers, and waterscapes.

If you haven’t had a chance yet, there’s still time to experience Illuminated, the light show we helped install at Anderson Japanese Gardens!

The garden is glowing after dark with soft, elegant lighting that highlights the paths, trees, and peaceful atmosphere. At Tyler's Landscaping, we loved working with them to bring you this years Illuminated. It’s a beautiful way to see the garden in a whole new light. Don’t miss it while the lights are still up!

The show is open until January 4th, but it is closed today (12/31) and tomorrow (1/1).

Watering Tips for a Healthy Lawn & Garden

Summer is in full swing, and with these hot, humid days, keeping your lawn and garden looking green can be a real challenge. Proper watering is key to keeping your lawn and garden thriving, especially with this heat wave.

Here are a few simple watering techniques to help you make the most of every drop:

Water your lawn and garden in the early morning or late evening
Cooler temperatures reduce evaporation, so your plants can absorb more water before the heat of the day.

Deep, Infrequent Watering
Rather than light, daily sprinkles, water deeply a few times per week. This encourages roots to grow deeper into the soil, making your lawn and garden more drought-resistant.

Check Soil Moisture
Before watering, feel the soil a few inches down. If it’s still damp, wait a bit longer. Remember, too much water can cause just as much damage as too little.

Add Mulch to Gardens
A 2–3 inch layer of mulch around your flower beds and vegetables will help the soil retain moisture and reduce water loss from evaporation.

Mow a Little Higher
Setting your mower blade a bit higher in summer, around 3 inches, provides shade for the soil and reduces water loss, helping your grass stay greener.

Pro Tip: If you have an irrigation system, check the calibration to make sure water reaches the grass and garden beds, not the sidewalk or driveway.

By following these simple guidelines, you can help your lawn and garden stay lush and vibrant, even during the hottest months of the year.

Have questions? Our team here at Tyler's Landscaping is here to help with all your summer lawn care needs.

Just 37 more days until Spring officially begins! That means that soon all of our trees and shrubs will start waking up.

Trees stop their active growth during the cold weather, so trimming during this dormant period allows them to put all of their energy into producing new, healthy growth when the warmer temperatures come back. This helps prevent the spread of diseases and pests, helps the trees form stronger root systems to protect against storms, and it keeps your trees healthy and beautiful.

In preparation for spring, for the next 37 days, Tyler's Landscaping is offering free consultation and 15% off our tree and shrub pruning if you mention this Facebook post!
