Yesterday, our Weston & Sampson Design Studio was honored to join the City of Newton, MA, the Charles River Watershed Association, and the community to celebrate the groundbreaking for Phase 1 of the Albemarle Field Improvements in Newton.

As our Team Leader and Landscape Architect Cassie Bethoney said, “This project is the perfect example of how active recreational use and climate resilience can complement each other.”

Not only will this work ensure Albemarle remains a vital hub for sports, play, and community gatherings, but a blend of stormwater management strategies will transform this section of Cheesecake Brook into a thriving, flood mitigating ecosystem. Key improvements include:
✅ new multi-use fields
✅ better drainage infrastructure
✅ accessible pathways
✅ native plantings

We can’t wait to dig in with RAD Sports to bring this vision a reality!
