🏈 SUPER BOWL SUNDAY + SEPTIC PROBLEMS? READ THIS BEFORE YOU PANIC 🚽

House full of people. Toilets acting up. Game about to start. Here’s a quick DIY diagnostic guide for a conventional septic system 👇

🚨 TOILET WON’T FLUSH OR IS BACKING UP?

CHECK THE INLET SIDE OF THE SEPTIC TANK

• Open the inlet side lid
• Look at the inlet baffle
• If the inlet baffle has a noticeable clog, carefully poke it (shovel handle, stick, etc.)
• Have someone flush the toilet and watch the water enter the tank

✅ If it starts flowing again, you just bought yourself some time until a pumper can come out

INLET BAFFLE LOOKS NORMAL AND WATER LEVEL INSIDE THE TANK LOOKS NORMAL?

That means the issue is likely between the house and the tank

CHECK YOUR CLEANOUT

• Slowly loosen the cap (it may be under pressure)
• If water comes out, the clog is between the cleanout and the septic tank
• Try running a snake towards the septic tank

❗ If it keeps happening, call someone with a sewer camera or drain cleaning equipment

🚫 CLEANOUT IS EMPTY?

That points to a plumbing issue under the house
• Try a plunger or snake
• If that doesn’t work, call a plumber

🌊 OPEN THE SEPTIC TANK AND WATER IS COVERING THE INLET OR OVERFLOWING?

Move to the outlet side lid

CHECK FOR AN OUTLET FILTER

• If there is a filter, VERY slowly lift it just enough to let water pass
• Go slow so you don’t let solids free-flow into the drainfield
• Once the water level returns to normal, fully remove the filter
• Rinse it into the inlet side of the septic tank
• Reinstall the filter

⚠️ NO FILTER?
That likely means a drainfield issue
• The system needs to be pumped
• The drainfield should be evaluated by a septic professional

Save this. Share it. Tag the Super Bowl host.

And this is what happens when folks run the water during a cold spell . They don’t drip faucets and that is gallons a hour . Over works septic . It can’t keep up so everything floods pump tank and drainfield.
Remember septics are figured by usage of bedrooms and a/c area .

180 gallons per day . You add 1 gallon a hour by running faucets , extra loads of cloths , etc . You have hydraulic overloaded your septic .
By the way a running toilet can add 2 gallons a minute .
Sorry folks I’m not the greatest poster in the world. But hope you understand my message.
Give us a call for your septic needs .
As my grandson says I do know my 💩.

We receive lots of packages throughout the week. Some things we don’t really want to get wet so Rick built this here box. I finally finished nailing the horseshoes to it today (the leg of the r was missing for a few days).

Hopefully delivery drivers understand where to put all things now!
