Friendly reminder. When you file a claim beware some insurance companies do not even send adjusters to your home anymore. They send third party. They pay them. That third party will then try to convince you to use them to do the work. Yes they will actually double dip and you will end up losing potential upgrades. Plus they will cut corners. Pick your own contractor. Let them go over the claim with you to make sure all got covered. Not only does it sound fishy for the to do that it is. I’ve had people contracted and had those companies do a hard sale making the people feel like they need to use them. It’s wrong but nearly impossible for me to prove. I have a legit lawsuit again Safeco and that roofer for doing it but it’s a losing battle. Best thing is for owners to know their rights. Tell them to do their job and when the insurance works up the scope of work contact a trusted contractor to make sure it is correct and do the work. The vendor they use will go anywhere they have claims so good luck getting something done. Use local and use your own. Insurance companies do not do anything to benefit you. This benefits them. They make enough. Don’t allow them to control your repairs with paid actors.
