Round 2 of snow and cold temperatures are coming through this weekend. Some apartments and condos have a water shutoff, but all homes and townhomes do. It's a valve that allows water from the utility to come into your home's plumbing. The shutoff will likely be in your crawl space or basement, or if you are on a slab, it will be just outside the home where the water enters. It might be right next to your hot water heater. Take time today to figure it out. Then, if you lose power and go somewhere else, turn off your water as you leave and open your faucets to relieve any pressure. This isn't as important for people who are on wells because when the power goes out, it will shut the well off and thus the pressure to the pipes will be eliminated. However, I would still open your faucets to drain your pressure tank. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the snow! ❄️

With this winter storm coming through, and it seems to be more ice than anything, keep those pipes wrapped and outside faucets covered. If you lose power, turn your main water valves off as to not bust your pipes. Turn the faucets on to get all the pressure out. Especially if you don’t have a way to heat your home. Everyone please stay safe, don't drive if you don't have too. As always, if you have an emergency, please let us know and we'll help any way we possibly can!

The weather is getting cold fast! Make sure to cover your hose bibs and consider leaving a faucet dripping overnight. This can reduce the risk of your pipes becoming frozen and then bursting.
