Mercy Lane Angus Farmās venture into the cattle business is not your typical one. Neither the Britton and Tucker families grew up on a farm, but Brad Tucker has always had a desire to own cattle for most of his life. Growing up, Bradās best friend was raised on a farm raising Angus cattle where Brad spent a lot of his time. Growing up alongside that family was Bradās first introduction to the breed and sparked his desire to raise a family on a farm of his own one day.
As most in the cattle business know, it is not easy to get started and we would agree with that - but with hard work and dedication, we are committed to making this thing work. The first cows ever purchased by Mercy Lane in early 2012 after locating our property, were from a family friend that raised Hereford cattle. He had a few remaining non-registered cows that he was willing to part with and thus, we began our adventure. With these cows being pregnant at the time, we anxiously awaited our first calves. Seeing those calves born was such a cool experience that there was no turning back - this was it and we were hooked!
Fast forward to Spring 2015, both the Britton and Tucker families had completed construction of our homes and were ready to jump in head first! Unsure of what direction to take, Brad called his lifelong friend and began discussing Angus cattle. From there, the rest is history, really! We knew from that moment that Angus was the breed for us - a sustainable, durable breed that works in any environment.
Mercy Lane Angus currently utilizes fixed-time Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer 100% of the time to take advantage of the best pairings possible. Our long term goal would be to host an annual show heifer/show steer sale. Though we did not grow up in the industry, we have a strong passion for getting our children involved, teaching them the value of hard work and responsibility. We are looking forward to the many stock show days ahead!
Looking back on how far we have come and where we will go, we honestly believe the best is yet to come for us. We are so excited about the future of Mercy Lane Angus Farm and being able to share our experiences with you.
