Cody is a man of many talents. Everything from welding, manufacturing, and maintenance to project manager, business brains and more! If there is a unique problem, Cody probably has a creative solution in mind. We love his creativity and can-do attitude!

The Herbie Crew - Cory, Lauren, Calvin, and Callie.

You’ll meet Cory in person if you call us for a service work. He is our service guru - if there’s a problem yo he’ll solve it 😉🎵Lauren has filled a lot of shoes in her years with Cory and the business. She’s done everything from office work and permits to being a faithful behind the scenes supporter of Cory and their family. And of course Calvin is obsessed with all things trucks (just like is dad!) and can’t wait until he’s big enough to drive them himself. Till then, he loves riding in the dump truck with Papa (Shawn) and on the equipment with Cory. And last but not least, Callie is our happy little girl and keeps us entertained (and her mama busy) with her smiles and coos.

We love that we can incorporate our families into the business and hope for many more years of it.

The Boys - Owners, Operators, and Get-it-Done’ers

You’ve met Cory, Shawn, and Cody separately over the last few weeks, but we think it’s time to introduce them as a team.

They are the Get-it-Done’ers! Shawn is the face of site visits and estimation. Helping customers get their projects off to the right start. Cory, our service guru, handles everything from Service Calls to equipment servicing. And last - but certainly not least- Cody is our general project manager and resident problem solver, if there’s a unique challenge, there’s a reasonable chance that Cody will have a creative solution. 👷‍♂️🪏

Around here, we affectionately call them “The Boys.” Together they are the dream team and make the impossible look like a Tuesday.

We’re proud to be family owned and operated, where experience, teamwork, and a little bit of goofing off go a long way.

The Siblings aka the Rabblerousers

Shawn & Christie went on to have 3 children. Cory, Cody, and Katelyn; but our family has grown to now include Lauren, our beautiful daughter in love/sister in love! Cory & Lauren are happily married and have 2 beautiful children of their own. (You’ll meet the littles later.) If you do business with us, you may not meet each of us directly, but we’re all involved in the business somehow. Whether that be in a behind the scenes support role or in the office, it takes all of us to make this dream a reality. Individually awesome, collectively dangerous. 😎

The Parents

Shawn & Christie first met around 1988 through Christie’s brothers and cousins, and the rest is history. A few years later, Dad proposed to Mom, and in 1992 they said “I do.”

They’ve been digging through life together ever since. (Pun fully intended 😉)

Just prior to their marriage, Shawn had started his own business, serving the community with his excavation and septic services. Christie began doing the books for the business and generally keeping Shawn in line. Together they built what we now know and love as our family business. From its inception, CBC Cat & Backhoe, Inc. has been committed to doing the job right, the first time and we hope to continue that for many years to come.

We promised you a meet the team series so here we are to deliver.

Hi! We are CBC Cat & Backhoe, Inc. Otherwise known as the Herberholz family. Our little company started in 1990 with Shawn’s dream to work for himself doing what he loved best… playing in the dirt. 😉 After 36 years of business we feel blessed by our community and their continued support. Here’s to many more! 🥂

Look out folks… he caught a big one! 🎣

Imagine my confusion when I walked onto the job site and Cory goes, “I caught a fish! Wanna see?”

Now obviously, we don’t catch fish professionally, but we do deal with all things sewer and excavation. This client had a blocked sewer line and a failing tank; a new tank and sewer line later and we were back on deck, if you catch my drift. 😉 Call us if you’re looking for sewer installation/repairs, excavation of any kind - 541-821-4850.

Top of the hill, bottom of the hole. 🕳️

Our team replaced an Irrigation Main for a local municipality at the bottom of a 8’ hole. (Yes, we took all of the safety precautions. But that didn’t stop one of the girls from almost having a heart attack when she saw how far down the guys were working 🫣)
