— A look back at construction of Whole Foods Market at Coddingtown in Santa Rosa.

During construction, major structural components were lifted and carefully set into positions as the nearly 50,000 square foot market took shape. The project incorporated prefabricated light-gauge steel exterior wall systems and required close coordination between structural design, fabrication, and field installation.

Completed in 2010, the new Whole Foods became an important part of the redevelopment of Coddingtown’s north side and its unique roof design remains recognizable today.

In construction. Two-story ADU and garage pairs exposed 4x rafters, ridge beam framing, wood I-joists, cantilevered steel beams, and a waterproof deck with concrete retaining walls anchoring the lower level into the site.

Adjacent to the ADU, a new rec room overlooking an existing pickleball court continues the same material language, with exposed roof framing, wood and concrete construction, and an elevated deck supported on piers along the steep slope. Together, the spaces are designed to feel intentional, open, and seamlessly integrated into the surrounding property.

A look at the engineering behind the new 13,700 square foot service building at Hansel Ford Lincoln 🚘 MKM designed the concrete spread-footing foundation, building anchorage, and slab-on-grade system, including specialized floor support for automated car park lifts.

Our scope also included light-gauge metal interior walls, metal ceiling joists designed for future storage loads, and plywood-sheathed lateral bracing walls to support a future mezzanine, creating a coordinated structural system built for both current operations and future expansion.
