Urban noise can make leak investigations more challenging, but it doesn't have to stop them.

Busy urban environments can make acoustic leak detection more difficult. Heavy traffic, construction activity, and other sources of ambient noise and vibration can make it harder to narrow the search area during a leak investigation.

K9 Water Leak Detection offers another source of information. Rather than listening for the sound of a leak, trained detection dogs locate the odor associated with treated water escaping from buried infrastructure. Because they use their sense of smell rather than sound, they are not affected by the background noise that can interfere with acoustic methods.
