In 1984, three hard working brothers–with a home office and the goal of owning their own business–founded Bear Construction Company. While Nick, George and Jim Wienold founded the company as carpentry contractors, they soon realized that their hard work, technical knowledge and attention to detail frequently outpaced that of the general contractors they hired. They soon expanded the scope of their

company–adding a general contracting operation–to meet the needs of their customers. The firm concentrated its early efforts on tenant and retail work, and its client base grew steadily because of Bear's reputation for outstanding workmanship, customer service and value. To accommodate the influx of work, Bear purchased an office and a warehouse located on five acres in Arlington Heights. Steady Growth/New HQ
The company experienced steady growth and, by the early 1990's, expanded its expertise to include the special requirements of hospital and communication facility construction. Additional personnel were added and, in 2001, Bear Construction moved into its current 36,000-square-foot headquarters in Rolling Meadows. Today, Bear Construction Company employs a complete array of professionals who focus on every aspect of construction, from cost estimation and project management to accounting and safety and risk management. Additionally, the firm employs a large team of union carpenters, laborers and decorators experienced in a wide array of projects. While the company has grown significantly since its early days, the Wienold brothers have made it a priority to maintain the same family atmosphere they began with in 1984. This culture allows each employee to share in a sense of pride and ownership for everything the company accomplishes and is among the many reasons that Bear Construction Company stands out from its competitors.

August brought opportunities to connect, celebrate milestones, and build momentum for what’s ahead.

Throughout the month, the BEAR Construction team attended a trade event to connect with industry peers, broke ground on an exciting new project, and celebrated a ribbon cutting marking another project milestone. From strengthening industry relationships to celebrating the start and completion of projects, August was a reminder that construction is about more than what we build, it’s about the people and partnerships behind it.

Building the Future in the Heart of Schaumburg

Progress continues on BEAR Construction's new ground-up, 8,000 SF financial office building currently underway in Schaumburg, Illinois.

What may appear as a straightforward office building from the street represents months of extensive planning, coordination, and ex*****on below and above the surface. This turnkey project includes comprehensive site development and infrastructure improvements, featuring:

✔️ Helical pile foundations and aggregate piers for long-term structural stability
✔️ Stormwater management improvements, including expansion of the site's retention pond
✔️ Underground utilities and site infrastructure enhancements
✔️ Architectural, MEP, and interior buildout of a modern financial services facility

A project like this is about much more than constructing a building. Located within Olde Schaumburg Centre (OSC) Historic District, the project required close collaboration with the Village of Schaumburg, design partners, and regulatory agencies to successfully navigate zoning, permitting, and site development requirements while respecting the character and standards of the surrounding community. In addition, the team worked through complex Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) permitting requirements and stormwater management regulations, ensuring the project delivers both immediate functionality and long-term environmental stewardship. We are proud of the collaborative effort between the Owner, Design Team, Village of Schaumburg, MWRD, trade partners, and the BEAR Construction team that continues to keep this project moving forward safely and efficiently.

We recently celebrated the completion of a two-story structure to create a new Niles Central High School and a three-story addition at Niles West High School. We're happy to report that students and staff are already settling into the newly improved spaces!
