🔥 A Hidden Fire Hazard Behind Your Outlets! ⚡
Just because an outlet is working doesn’t mean it’s safe!
We recently came across wiring that had overheated and started burning behind an electrical outlet due to backstab connections.
⚡ What are backstab connections?
Instead of securing wires under the screw terminals, some outlets allow wires to be pushed into small holes in the back. Over time, these connections can loosen, creating resistance, excessive heat, and potentially a fire hazard.
🚨 Warning signs to watch for:
* Outlets that feel warm or hot
* Flickering lights
* Burning smells near outlets
* Discolored or melted receptacles
* Outlets that work intermittently
The scary part? Sometimes there are no warning signs until the damage is already done.
At Journey Electric, we believe in doing things right, not just doing them fast. That’s why we prioritize secure, reliable electrical connections that help keep your home and family safe.
