Skødt Design’s Story
The name Skødt (prononunced Skyut) comes for the old danish word “Skjødt”, meaning Shield, later become a common surname in the North Jutland and is the middle name of the company founder, Jarrett Skødt Nielsen. Born and raised Douglas County, Oregon and later working, traveling and studying all over the world has brought an insight that blends the materials of the Pacific
Northwest with the sensibility of modern Scandinavian Design. SKØDT DESIGN is a Certified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB) and Locally owned L.L.C. Jarrett retired from the US Army Aviation Branch after almost 23 years of service. Immediately after retiring he enrolled in the University of Oregon’s Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture Program and is also pursuing a Minor in Scandinavian Studies. Additionally he has studied abroad in Denmark, Japan and South Korea and Egypt. The purpose of this company is to bring a fresh insight to the field of design from a local who has studied and traveled beyond the Willamette Valley.
