In January, Simpson Strong-Tie welcomed us to their state of the art facility in Stockton. It was a great educational piece and factory tour. Might we add that the lunch was phenomenal also!

This was part of PFI's continuing education program for which we would like to thank all of our Foreman, Area Supervisors and Construction Managers for taking the time to attend.

Large residential framing contractor looking for a Field Supervisor with knowledge and experience in residential and multi-family framing to coordinate operations and oversee multiple crews. As the contact between employees and area supervisors, the field supervisor will be the key person in charge of overseeing the completion of the project with clear awareness of budgets, materials and workplace safety. The ideal applicant will have a background in the field, strong leadership skills and the ability to direct the work of others and handle the completion of required paperwork including payroll and safety inspections. The Field Supervisor must be well-organized and strongly focused on safety at all times.

Large residential framing contractor looking for an Area Supervisor in the I-205 and I-80 corridor with knowledge and experience in residential and multi-family framing to oversee operations in the field and multiple Foreman and their crews. As the contact between Foreman and main office, the Area Supervisor will be the person in charge of reinforcing, maintaining, and monitoring the project schedules, labor budgets, lumber budgets, product quality, safety, and field revisions.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Monitor and ensure that all assigned project construction schedules are maintained.
• Review budgets on a regular basis and monitor adherence to the established cost parameters.
• Ensure all construction activity performed by Foreman and employees meets or exceeds the established quality and Scope of Work standards.
• Walk all homes on a regular basis to assess quality and promptly communicate any problems or concerns to the appropriate party.
• Maintaining and tracking red lines with Foreman.
• Identify and communicate any plan or specification errors.
• Provide ongoing and initial training to increase knowledge and skill levels.
• Ensure all safety codes and practices are communicated and enforced.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Ability to perform the essential job functions.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must have a resume.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in residential framing management.

Project: Edgeview @ The Cove by Beazer Homes

The Inside Scoop:
14,000 Square-Foot, Six-Unit Multifamily Building
with Four Two-Story Units and Two Three-Story Units

Project Milestones:

Day 13- All Windows Installed

All windows were installed in one day, creating a weather-tight structure by the 13th day on the job site.

Day 12- Roof Trussed and Sheeted

The roof trusses were rolled and sheeted on the structure in seven days.

Day 5- Structure Assembled to Plate Level

A crew of four framers from PFI and Entekra's On-Site Services Manager Jason Cavallini (pictured here)– assembled the building to plate level in just five days.

All wall and floor panels were manufactured with premium lumber, achieving precision tight framing and virtually no waste on site. Floor panels were pre-drilled to exacting specifications to streamline installation of HVAC ductwork.

The structure was virtually built in the computer to solve design conflicts before a single piece of lumber was cut. A few hours of computer time can save thousands of dollars by eliminating costly delays on site.
