Thriller, filler, spiller container design method! šŸŒæāœØ

For this setup, weā€™re using

Thriller: Cordyline ā€˜Charlie Boyā€™ for that stunning, high-impact vertical focal point.

Filler: Heuchera to add rich texture and around the base.

Spiller: Creeping Jenny to cascade over the edge for some nice contrast

Pro tip: Add low-voltage lighting to really make those statement plants pop after dark!

Open ties from the side for easy access and no mess

I used to open zip ties from the top and they would always end up falling out

Then I thought I was a genius when I would take them all out of the bag and use one of the ties to bundle them together

I recently discovered this new method and it is far superior

Virgin base cost?

Iā€™m in Sacramento California and pay about $60 a yard.

Iā€™m curious what it costs in other parts of the country.

Also, does your stuff look like this?

Iā€™m warming up to the crevice garden

Bark and plants really soften it up a lot

Iā€™m going to have to stop by periodically to see how it evolves over time as the plants grow

This was our first time making something like this. Client showed us inspiration photos and we just went for it

Next one will be better now that we kinda of know what weā€™re doingā€¦.Kinda

NoršŸŒ“Cal Pool Productions is building a pool with a star floor.

He ran fiber-optic cables through the shell of the pool and have it stepped up in various locations.

After plaster gets Applied, the fiber optic cables we get trimmed to be flushed to the floor.

Then once water gets filled in and it gets dark, theyā€™ll turn on the light box which sits outside of the pool and all of the lights twinkle like stars.

Iā€™ve never seen a set up like this in real life only on the Interwebs

Top cast 3 finish

Have you seen top cast before? Do you like it?

After screeding out the mud the finishers will apply a retarder (top cast 3) that will prevent the top layer of cream from fully curing.

Tomorrow we will return to pressure wash off the retarder and it will leave an exposed aggregate finish.

Itā€™s not an exposed ag like the type that was super popular in the 80s. This is a lot more subtle and commonly referred to as a ā€œsand finishā€ since the only exposed aggregate is the sand.

Got asked to make a crevis garden.

Itā€™s basically flagstone stacked on edge with small plants in the crevices

Itā€™s our first time making one. Itā€™s interesting. šŸ˜‚

I think it will look better over time as the plants fill in.
