Another successful mold remediation completed in Manhasset, NY.

Mold remediation isn’t just about removing what you can see — it’s about following the proper protocol and verifying that the work was actually successful.

Working together with the independent mold assessor, our RescueDry team completed the remediation according to protocol, addressed the affected materials, HEPA cleaned the work area, and prepared the space for final clearance.

The result: PRV PASSED.

That’s how the process should work — assessor identifies and verifies, remediator performs the work, and the final results confirm the job was done properly.

Mold isn’t always the only problem caused by hidden water damage.

When we opened this wall, we found metal framing with severe corrosion from prolonged moisture exposure.

Is the rust itself a major health hazard? Generally, no. But corrosion this extensive is a major clue that moisture has been present inside the wall cavity for a long time — creating conditions where mold and other microbial growth can develop.

And that’s the problem with hidden water damage: by the time you see signs on the outside, the damage behind the wall may already be extensive.

Don’t just remove the mold. Find out why it grew in the first place.

Mold doesn’t always start with a dramatic flood. Sometimes, it happens slowly — behind the walls where nobody can see it.

We recently completed a mold remediation project in Manhasset, Long Island, where water had been seeping through foundation cracks over time. Improper exterior grading made the problem worse by directing rainwater toward the foundation instead of away from the home.

The homeowners had no idea how much moisture was accumulating behind the finished walls until the damage became apparent.

Once opened up, the real story was clear: persistent moisture + limited drying = the perfect environment for hidden mold growth.

The takeaway: If you have foundation cracks, musty odors, unexplained humidity, staining, or grading that slopes toward your house, don’t wait for visible mold. The problem may already be developing behind the walls.

Apparently, mold likes to travel at 35,000 feet too. ✈️

As a frequent flyer—and someone who deals with mold every day—this immediately caught my eye: visible mold-like growth around the airplane ceiling vent right next to cold air blowing from the AC.

Cold surface + warm, humid air = condensation. Add dust and organic debris, and you can create conditions where microbial growth can develop.

What’s interesting is how many passengers probably sit underneath something like this every day without noticing—or saying anything.

Airplanes are cleaned constantly, but how often are ceiling panels, vents, and condensation-prone areas actually inspected and cleaned?

Next time you fly, look up. 👀

Think mold won’t grow on cement or WonderBoard? Think again.

We found significant mold growth on cement-based material in this Manhasset basement after persistent water intrusion and prolonged moisture exposure.

Cement board itself isn’t food for mold, but dust, dirt, organic debris, adhesives, and other materials on or around the surface can support mold growth when moisture sticks around long enough.

The takeaway: “Mold-resistant” does NOT mean mold-proof.

Control the moisture, or eventually nature takes over.

Doing the right thing isn’t always the easiest or the cheapest—but it’s always the right decision.

Sometimes that means using higher-quality materials because we’d trust them in our own homes. Sometimes it means listening carefully to a homeowner’s concerns and adjusting our process without being asked. Sometimes it means going the extra mile simply because that’s the standard we hold ourselves to.

At RescueDry, we don’t just restore homes—we build trust. Long after the equipment is gone, we want our clients to remember how they were treated.

Relationships first. Everything else follows.
