September 2022 I officially started my own HVAC Business to simplify my life. I do quality work that you can be proud of. Couple of Tips for the cold weather we are about to get here in North Carolina!!!
1.) Leave your thermostat on one setting all day. Scheduling a system to turn off or lower/raising degrees will cause it to actually run longer when we get extreme weather.
2.) If your system is not keeping up don't panic. Heat Pumps will tend to take longer to heat up your space and the air may not feel hot but its transferring heat. We design for a indoor temp in most NC counties to stay 70 degrees indoor temp @25 degrees to 20 Degrees outdoor temperature. When temperatures drop lower system struggle. Use Fireplace or alternate source.
3.) The emergency heat WILL run on most heat pumps below freezing.
4.) Cover your exterior water facets so as to insulate them from freezing.
5.) Replace old weather stripping around doors and seal windows if they leak.
6.) Change your filter often and check your outdoor unit for heavy ice during cold weather. Call for a service if you think there is an issue.
7.) If you have gas/oil/propane ALWAYS have a Co Monitor near each bedroom and one on each level. Check the batteries and change before they go bad. If the Monitor is older than 7-10 years replace it with a new one.
8.) Keep flammable material away from your furnaces. Paint cans, cleaner, rugs and other items.

Had a ton of Invertor mini split system jobs lately. These systems can heat down below freezing with just the heat pump application to -5 degrees. There are also a lot of options such as ducted systems that work on the Invertor (mini split) type systems. This one particular job worked well with the mid static air handler application because the crawlspace had limited room for a standard air handler. The slim design allowed for the need allowances for clearance.
