Day light savings time! Security tip….
It’s that time of year again, We turn our clocks back and get an extra hour of sleep! This is also a good time to think about security. Here is simple, inexpensive weekend project (afternoon project) to boost your security.
It gets darker earlier this time of year. How often have you found yourself coming home to a dark entrance way when you thought you would be home before the sun went down? It happens to all of us. We make a quick stop for milk or we know how fast traffic can back up on our beloved I75 or malfunction junction and next thing we know we are getting home after dark.
Don’t get caught in the dark. It is always a good idea to have lights on in your entrance way when you are coming or going, even when you are home. Burglars don’t like to be seen. They are less likely to try to break in under a bright light. Also if someone were watching your house they would see those lights come on everyday and see that you use your key and keep you house locked up. You are no longer an “easy” target.
I know, no one wants to leave a light burning all day. Let’s be honest, it costs us hard earned money to burn that light all day. Also it’s not the “green” thing to do either. Here is a simple solution you can do in an afternoon, probably in less than 20 minutes. Install an Indoor / Outdoor Dusk to Dawn Screw-In Light Control.
If you can install a light bulb you can install this. Simply unscrew your light bulb, screw in the sensor, and then screw in your light bulb and now you have an automatic light when the sun goes down. It’s green and its peace of mind. No matter when you come home you will have a lit entrance way.
It’s a quick and cheap way to feel secure when you come home. These neat little gadgets run about $6 at Home Depot or Wal-Mart. You can find them at just about any major retailer or hardware store. Install one these weekend and don’t be in the dark anymore.
