🕵️♂️ Not Sure Where Your Septic System Is? Here’s How to Find It 🕵️♀️
If you’re a homeowner with a septic tank, knowing where your system is located can save you time, money, and headaches — especially when it’s time for service!
Here are a few tips to help you locate it:
1. Check Property Records
Look for your home’s original site or septic system layout plan. It’s often included in inspection reports or filed with the health department.
2. Look for Signs in the Yard
A slight mound, a patch of greener grass, or soft/soggy spots may indicate where your tank or drain field is located.
3. Follow the Plumbing
Your tank is usually 10–25 feet from the house in line with your main bathroom. Find your main clean-out pipe and follow a straight line out.
4. Check for Risers or Lids
Some newer systems have access risers visible at or slightly below ground level. These provide easy access for pumping and inspection.
5. Call the Pros
